CANACONA
Canacona health officials and a Canacona Muncipal Council (CMC) team conducted a joint inspection of stagnant water, which has raised health concerns at Kepe-Arkar between Ponsulem and Patnem in Canacona on Friday.
The joint inspection was taken after Canacona Councillor Shubham Komarpant raised the issue of water contamination, which emanated odour in the locality.
“The water quality has deteriorated and water emanates bad smell in the locality. It has become very unhygienic and health threatening for humans,” claimed Komarpant in a complaint to CMC and Canacona Health Officer.
It is alleged that many hotels and other establishments dump untreated garbage and sewage water into the water body.
Health Sanitary Inspector Pranay Naik sighted some outlet pipes and said further investigation will be carried out and further notices will be served to parties concerned.
