A youth from Kankumbi near Khanapur died on the spot in a road mishap near Chorla on Saturday morning.
According to Khanapur police, the incident took place at about 7 am as Vikram Kolekar (28) “ a former student of KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (2016“2020 batch) “ was returning to Goa.
Employed with a bank, Kolekar had gone to Kankumbi for holidays for Shiv Jayanti celebrations.
His two-wheeler collided with a goods rickshaw near Chorla village, leading to his fatal injuries. The body was shifted to Khanapur Civil Hospital and later taken to Kankumbi village.
Meanwhile, Vikram’s college mates in Goa and Belagavi have expressed shock and grief over his untimely demise while many rushed to Khanapur to support the family in completing the procedures.
A case has been registered at the Khanapur Police Station and further investigation is underway.
Vikram is survived by two sisters and parents. His father who was serving in a private firm in Belagavi is suffering from paralysis. Vikram who was known for his ambitious nature was popular among his relatives, colleagues and friends. His sudden passing has created a deep void among his peers, both in Belagavi and Goa.
