President of Olaulim Comunidade Maurice Pinto on Wednesday said illegal hill cutting was taking place in comunidade land in Olaulim village and called on authorities to immediately issue a stop-work order on the alleged illegal activity.
In a letter to the Administrator of Comunidades (North Zone), Deputy Collector, TCP and the police, Pinto said illegal hill cutting was going on in survey number 5/0 belonging to the comunidade of Olaulim.
“The person allegedly involved in the illegal activity has trespassed in our property and destroyed the plantation done by the comunidade and excavated around one and half metre without the approval of any of the concerned authorities,” Pinto said.
He said a JCB with registration number GA-04-E-6884 and a scooter with registration number GA-03-AA-1195 was present on the spot in the first half of the day.
He requested the authorities to confiscate the vehicles and issue a stop-work order in the matter.
Sources in the comunidade informed that officials attached to the flying squad North Goa Collector came to the site in the evening but by then the JCB had moved away from the spot.
The source further said that the collector is expected to formally issue a stop work order on the ongoing work on Thursday.
