In an interesting development, the Verna police have opposed the anticipatory bail application filed by Kalidas Vaingankar and Santosh Singh Rajput in the Sancoale case.
The duo, against whom the Verna police had filed a case after they had placed an idol of a Hindu deity at the old Sancoale Church, had filed the anticipatory bail plea before the South Goa Sessions Court, fearing arrest by the Verna police.
In another development, a representative of the Sancoale Church has filed an intervention application in the matter.
Arguments in the anticipatory bail application were partly heard in the Sessions Court on Friday. The Court also heard part arguments in the intervention application filed by the representatives of the Church. Hearing on both the applications will resume in the South Goa Sessions Court on Monday.
