The footbridge between Velus and Hedode in Sattari taluka has developed cracks and its condition has deteriorated. Due to this, the possibility of an accident cannot be ruled out. The people have demanded that a wider bridge should be provided in place of the said bridge. Citizens have demanded that Valpoi Constituency MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane should pay due attention to this weak bridge.
The bridge constructed at Velus for the villages of Velus in Valpoi Municipality and Hedode in Nagargaon Grampanchayat is currently weak. The said footbridge was built many years ago. At present, the bridge has developed cracks at many places and the possibility of a serious accident cannot be ruled out. Citizens say that walking over the said bridge has become dangerous. Only two-wheelers are allowed on this bridge. It is not possible to allow four wheeler vehicles to ply over the bridge. Due to this, the citizens of Hedode area have to traverse longer distances.
A large number of children are coming to Valpoi Hanuman Vidyalaya for education. Similarly, the residents of the Velus and Hedode are using this bridge to go to Valpoi town. Citizens will benefit greatly if wider footbridge is built at this place. Due to this, the citizens of Hedode area have demanded that the facility of a wide bridge should be provided at this place.
Hedode resident and senior citizen Dattaram Barve said that it is very necessary to construct a wider bridge in place of the narrow weak bridge. Because a large number of students are going to benefit from this facility in this place. Barve has clarified that the development of this area will get a good boost if a wider bridge is constructed at this place.
Meanwhile, in this regard, local councillor Ramdas Shirodkar, while expressing his reaction, said that he has submitted a proposal to the Public Works Department requesting that a wider bridge should be constructed. A request has been made to the local MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane in this regard. Shirodkar has clarified that in the coming time this proposal will be promoted and special efforts will be made from the point of view of building a wider bridge at this place.
