Olencio’s presence in 2017 won’t affect me: Alina

She, however, sounded confidence of retaining the Cortalim seat, having worked to usher in the development of the constituency during the last four years.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the function at the Manovikas school here on Wednesday, Alina was categorical in saying that the presence of Olencio in the fray will not damage her election prospects. “India is a free country, where everybody has the right the contest. Let Olencio exercise his right. His presence in the fray will not damage me. I have full faith in my constituents. They are aware of the work I have carried out in the constituency. I have faith in my people, having made myself available to the constituents all the time,” she said. When asked whether she has been unhappy with the performance of the BJP-led government during her tenure in the Cabinet, Alina said she is extremely happy with the functioning of the government. “As far as development is concerned, good things have happened to Goa with the BJP in power,” she said, while saying that she is proud to have been part of the BJP-led government.
Explaining that no government can be 100 percent successful, Alina said, “May be sometimes works initiated by the government with good motive are not properly understood by the people.”
