The locals gathered at Ponda Police station after the duo was granted conditional bail.
On Tuesday, Gurudas Gaude and his brother Gokuldas were arrested for allegedly attacking villagers, removing the idol from Sanctum Sanctorum and spoiling decorations of ‘tarang’ (decorated pole).
Siddhesh Sukhtanker, president of Shantadurga temple to which Mallikarjun Devasthan is affiliated, told media persons that both the accused have been granted conditional bail and ordered to cooperate with the police for investigation.
“Some religious articles from our village are missing. Hence, we demand that houses of both the accused should be searched,” Sukhtanker demanded. The locals dispersed when they were told that police inspector and DySP were on BRICS duty. They had demanded to summon them at the police station.
