CANACONA
One death and 77 new cases on Thursday took the total active cases to 481 in Canacona taluka.
According to sources, 53 new cases were detected from various parts of Canacona municipality, followed by Agonda (9), Shristhal (6), Khola (5), Loliem (3) and Poinguinim (1). Canacona taluka has recorded a total number of 1,427 Covid cases so far.
Canacona Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal said in addition to a house in Ourem-Palolem, on house at Shristhal-Gaondongrim, where 12 Covid cases were detected in a house, and a residential area behind Omkar Building at Chaudi have been declared as micro-containment zones in Canacona taluka.
The death count has risen to 19 and there have been a total of 968 recoveries so far.
Meanwhile, residents of Canacona have demanded a separate Covid Vaccination Centre for people in Canacona, which is presently being carried out in the CHC compound where Covid testing is also being conducted.
