The North Goa Collector has issued a show-cause notice to Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for organising the gathering to inaugurate a bridge in Sankhali, violating the Covid safety norms, endangering the lives of people amid the pandemic.

Vijay Bhike president of the North Goa District Congress Committee has filed a complaint before the Bicholim police station seeking action against the chief minister, MLA Pravin Zantye and others.
CM Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated the Vithalapur-Bhandarwada Sanquelim Bridge in the presence of Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, ZP member, Mahesh Sawant, SMC councillors, Karapur Sarvan sarpanch and others.
North Goa Collectorate has ordered to show cause within 48 hours from the receipt of the notice as to why legal proceedings under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code should not be initiated against GSIDC for knowingly disobeying a duly promulgated order under Section 144 CrPC by the undersigned, failing which will cause to initiate an appropriate legal proceeding under law.
"It had been brought to the notice of the undersigned that Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, has inaugurated the Shahid 2nd Lt Virjayendra Zoiba Rane Sardessai bridge over Valvanti River at Sankhali on 28/04/2021 and a large number of people were present at the site during the said inauguration despite the issue of prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC referred above," says the show cause notice issued by Collector North Ajit Roy.
The Collector North has also sought an inquiry report from the Mamlatdar of Bicholim wherein it is stated that no permission was obtained by the GSIDC from the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Bicholim and crowd has assembled for the inauguration function thereby violating the order dated 21/04/2021 issued under Section 144 of CrPC, 1973.
Further, it stated that Covid safety norms were violated by GSIDC officials while commissioning the said project.
