Despite the State government mandating that employers should promote work from home and the directorate of higher education mandating that all employees work from home in view of the second deadlier wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, staff of engineering colleges and other technical educational institutions are being asked to report to work come Monday.
Staff at the Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, at Assagao have revealed that despite several cases at the Institute staff are being asked to report to work come Monday ignoring the risks associated with being in the close company of those who have come in contact with persons who have tested positive.
While the Goa University as mandated that all its staff will not be obliged to report to their place of work in view of the prevailing situation and the Directorate of Higher Education has exempted all teaching and non-teaching staff from attending their institutions till further order the same has not been made applicable to its institutions by the Directorate of Technical Education.
A similar situation was witnessed earlier in some schools especially Sharada Mandir School where the management asked teaching and non-teaching staff to continue reporting to work despite an outbreak of cases leading to an even bigger outbreak which finally forced a closure of the premises.
