One held for cheating
PONDA: Ponda Police arrested one person on charges of cheating a job seeker from Vasco. The other accused is yet to be arrested.
Police informed that Prajyot Pednekar from Vasco complained that the accused Ajay Shirodkar and another person from Durbhat-Ponda cheated him to the tune of Rs 4.25 lakh after assuring him a job on a cruise ship.
Sources informed that the two accused have a job recruitment agency and Pednekar came in contact with them. The deal started two years back and the complainant was assured of a job.
When Pednekar realised that he was looted by the duo, he started demanding the return of his money; however, the accused duo started ignoring his pleas and gave him fresh assurances of a job or just didn't answer his phone calls. Pednekar after trying to get back his money and having failed, then filed a police complaint.
The offense was registered under Sections 420 and 461 of IPC. Police is investigating the case.
