One held for raping a minor
PONDA: Ponda Police on Thursday arrested a 59-year-old man from Kothambi on charges of raping a minor girl.
According to the police, the accused, Rajendra Parab, was produced in court and was remanded to 13 days custody.
Police informed that the accused, having a bicycle repair shop in the vicinity of Usgao, befriended the 12-year-old victim and allegedly sexually abused her a number of times. But recently, he reportedly raped her in his shop.
The police said the girl narrated the incident to her friend, who in turn told the teacher. Later, the teacher told her parents and a police complaint was lodged against the accused.
Ponda Police is further investigating the case.
