Amidst a crackdown on foreigners in conflict with law, Goa Police on Friday revealed that as many as 77 foreigners overstaying in Goa have been deported between January 1 and June 27.
FRRO SP Arshi Aadil stated that the majority of those deported were from Russia, Uganda and Bangladesh.
“The FRRO office has deported as many as 77 illegal immigrants/foreigners, including 32 males and 47 females from different countries. Out of the 32 males deported, 13 are from Russia, 12 from Bangladesh and one each from Uganda, Nigeria, Poland, Morocco, Britain, Ukraine and Mauritius. Of the females deported, 17 are from Uganda, 14 from Bangladesh, 12 from Russia, and one each from Britain, Ukraine, Belarus and Argentina,” she said.
The Goa police claimed that action against illegally overstaying immigrants will continue, considering India’s security prospects.
North SP and PRO Rahul Gupta urged the accommodation providers to timely submit the C-Forms on the online portal https://indianfrro.gov.in while renting out the premises to foreign nationals within 24 hours of their arrival.
“The general public is requested to report the illegally/overstaying foreigners, if noticed, in their locality to the nearest Police Station for appropriate action. Timely reporting will go a long way in maintaining law and order and peace in the State of Goa,” he added.
Meanwhile, under the ongoing “Operation Flush Out”, a total of 56 actions have been initiated in the past six months, of which 35 were carried out in May and June alone. The campaign specifically targeted foreigners deliberately overstaying and those involved in unlawful activities.
“Operation flushout will continue. We resolve to ensure that foreigners who come to India follow and respect the law and culture of the country. Action has been enhanced in recent months as per the directions of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Director General of Police Alok Kumar,” Gupta said.
