Open trenches, uneven surfaces in Curchorem raise safety concerns

Open trenches, uneven surfaces in Curchorem raise safety concerns
Incomplete road works are posing safety risks to motorists in Curchorem.

SANGUEM
The road infrastructure in and around Curchorem town has deteriorated alarmingly over the past several months, posing a significant threat to motorists’ safety. Several stretches have effectively become death traps.

Persistent excavation by contractors undertaking sewerage works within the municipal area has left numerous trenches open and unattended.

These trenches have now filled with rainwater, making them virtually invisible to motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders. Although some barricades have been erected by the contractor, coverage remains insufficient to adequately prevent accidents.

To compound matters, the road connecting Curchorem to Sanguem is also in poor condition. The presence of multiple manholes and a generally uneven surface forces motorists to drive on the wrong side, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

Local citizens are appealing to the concerned authorities to initiate immediate repair work on these critical road sections. They stress the need to restore the roads to a motorable condition before the impending monsoon, which is expected to worsen the current hazards.
