The Opinion Poll Square Road at Old Market turned slippery and muddy on Wednesday, posing danger to motorists and vehicle owners, due to factors created by the authorities.
In fact, even as questions have been raised over the indiscriminate dumping of mixed waste, including green and vegetable waste at the GSUDA-acquired land near the District Court building, the main road has been turned slippery because of the constant movement of trucks dumping waste at the site.
Wednesday saw a portion of the Opinion Poll road, outside the waste dumping site, literally turn red, with trucks coming out of the site muddying the stretch.
Leave alone regulating the waste dumping at the site, no authority has taken the trouble to find out the extent of the danger posed to motorists by the waste transporting trucks and issue directions to the Fire brigade to clean up the sludge and muck from the road.
It is a sheer irony that while motorists were facing the danger of skidding on the road, a group of traffic enforcement officials were seen stopping motorists to issue challans for violations right on the stretch rendered dangerous by the waste spillage.
