Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said that the Opposition’s dream of having an alliance government in Goa will never be successful.
Godinho was speaking to reporters and party workers during the election-cum-formal announcement of Dabolim BJP Mandal at the Bogmalo beach resort on Sunday.
“Some of the opposition legislators are trying to seek the help of Shiv Sena to form government in Goa by forming an alliance. This is wishful as the government formed in Maharashtra by compromising party ethics will collapse of its own in the next couple of months,” said Godinho.
Godinho said that BJP was not a communal party. “Majority of the legislators in BJP are from the minority community. Where is the question of communalism left in the BJP?” he added.
The election for the new BJP mandal was attended by BJP state unit general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Commissioner for NRI Affairs Narendra Sawaikar, returning officer for Dabolim constituency Sanjay Satardekar, outgoing Dabolim BJP president Sada Shet, BJP South Goa secretary Santosh Kerkar, Chicalim Sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira, deputy sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, panch members Marie Mascarenhas and Shivaji Kurade, Chicolna Bogmalo deputy sarpanch Arun Naik, panch members Laxman Kavlekar and Sankalp Mahale, Dabolim BJP Mahila Morcha president Anita Thorat and others. Addressing party workers, Tanawade said that their participation will help strengthen the party at the grassroots level and enable BJP to come to power in the next assembly election.
Tanavade informed that the BJP has constituted the mandal committees in two constituencies of South Goa district, while majority of the mandal formation in North Goa has been completed.
“The party would sweep the forthcoming assembly election based on the active participation and support from the workers,” said Tanavade. He disclosed that BJP has constituted mandal committees after the process of electing the booth-level committees in a democratic manner.
The Commissioner for NRI Affairs Sawaikar informed that the workers are the base of BJP. “The induction of new faces, including youth,
would help strengthen the party,” he said.
