Velim MLA Cruz Silva has criticised the decision to hold the upcoming Goa Legislative Assembly session for only three days from August 31, calling it inadequate to address the State’s pressing issues.
Silva said the Assembly is the highest democratic forum where the government must be held accountable on matters concerning Health, Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, TCP, Tourism, Environment, Transport and other sectors. He pointed out that Goa is facing challenges including unemployment, rising costs, healthcare shortages, infrastructure issues, environmental concerns and delays in development projects.
Meanwhile, Goa Forward Party president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has launched “Amcho Aavaz, Vijai”, a public outreach initiative to gather issues and suggestions from citizens ahead of the Assembly session.
Sardesai said the initiative aims to ensure people’s concerns are raised in the Assembly. Citizens, resident welfare groups, panchayats, civic bodies, professionals, youth and students have been invited to submit issues related to roads, unemployment, education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, environment, housing and local governance.
