MAPUSA
A group of 120-odd women voters joined the Congress in the presence of Mahila Congress President, Bina Naik and Vice President, Dr Pramod Salgaonkar and extended their support to the Mapusa Congress candidate Sudhir Kandolkar giving boost to the party’s campaign in Mapusa.
“I welcome the new additions into the Congress family. They are all well connected on the ground and have worked relentlessly for the people of Mapusa. I am sure they will further strengthen Congress in Mapusa,” said Naik.
She said that women power can change the political scenario in the State and will definitely help Congress party to win the 2022 elections.
“Women have been forced to bear the brunt of rising inflation. Women are smart and will ensure that the Congress candidate in Mapusa is voted to power,” she said.
According to Pramod Salgaonkar the BJP and its government was responsible for the rising crime in Goa.
“Today our young women are not safe. They are afraid to walk alone on the road. Goa is not the same safe place it used to be before. This will be a very difficult election for the BJP as people will refrain from voting for such careless, stone hearted and negligent parties,” Salgaonkar said.
The North Goa District Congress President, Vijay Bhike said the role of women in family and politics is important and requested the women to ensure that the Congress candidate is elected in the assembly election.
Congress candidate, Sudhir Kandolkar pointed out that the Mapusa MLA made many promises to the people but was unable to fulfill any.
“There was a plan for a multi-purpose state-of-the-art bus-stand at Mapusa but he fooled the people by doing some mediocre work and setting up a shed. This time the people of Mapusa will show him his place,” Kandolkar said.
The Mapusa Congress Block President, Shashank Narvekar also spoke.
