GPCC President Girish Chodankar, accompanied by senior Congress leader & ex-MLA Dharma Chodankar, took time from his hectic schedule to join Alliance candidate, Goa Forward Party’s Santosh Kumar Sawant on his door-to-door campaign in Mayem.
GFP Gen Secy (Org) Durgadas Kamat, who was with Sawant at the beautiful Kelbai Temple in Kelbaiwada, welcomed both of them and other Congress leaders including Sandeep Mainkar, Mahesh Yende, Prasad Chodankar and said, “Santosh started his door-to-door campaign one and a half months ago and we will have covered the entire constituency in another 3-4 days, after which we will be holding corner meetings & public meetings. We have got tremendous support everywhere and the combined efforts of both parties will ensure a huge victory for our alliance in Mayem.”
Santosh Sawant said that, as the alliance candidate for Mayem, he was privileged to welcome the GPCC President, “I am happy that Girishbab is setting an example for true alliance ‘dharma’ by joining my campaign trail. We are confident about my victory, and after today, we will work still harder to increase our victory margin.”
Girish Chodankar, speaking on the issue of mining, said, “I have come here to campaign for Mayem’s future MLA, Santosh Kumar Sawant. I want to give the message that we are fighting these elections together and that we will send the BJP home. Santosh has proved his ability to work for the people over the last 5 years and I am sure that he will be rewarded by Mayem’s voters. All Goans, especially the Bahujan Samaj, have suffered badly under the BJP rule. The BJP’s plan of finishing the Bahujan Samaj by stopping mining. Whenever elections are around the corner, BJP talks about starting mining, but actually does nothing to help the people. The Congress-GFP alliance will see to it that we start mining and give justice to the Bahujan Samaj.”
Dharma Chodankar appealed to the people that the BJP Government has failed in Mayem constituency and they have ruined all prospects of prosperity for the Bahujan Samaj families.
