PORVORIM
Over 300 persons received their Covid vaccine jab at two different mega vaccination camps organised by the Porvorim Primary Health Centre (PHC) on Monday.

While 152 persons received their vaccines at the camp in the Socorro panchayat hall, 150 others got their vaccines at the camp in the PHC premises.

The camp at Socorro, organised in association with the Socorro panchayat, was inaugurated by Porvorim PHC Health Office Dr Vikas Naik in the presence of Socorro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar, ZP member Kartik Kudnekar, Kishor Assnodkar, Deputy Sarpanch Deepali Satarderkr, panch members Sheetal Arokar and Kirti Kudnekar.

“Since it was not possible for all elderly people to visit the Porvorim PHC to get their Covid vaccine, this mega vaccination camp was organised for the benefit of senior citizens in Socorro and nearby areas,” said Dr Naik, while speaking on the occasion.

“Since Covid cases are on the rise once again in India, it has become essential for all people, especially senior citizens and people with comorbidities, to get themselves vaccinated without delay.”

The health officer said the second dose of the vaccine should be taken after 28 days.

“This second dose can be taken anywhere in India after showing the card. After the second dose, certificates will be issued to beneficiaries and these certificates should be preserved.”

“This certificate will be required while travelling by air, staying in hotel, life and health insurance purpose, etc.”

Dr Naik said those who receive the first Covid dose should continue wearing a face mask and maintain social distancing.

Socorro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar, ZP member Kartik Kudnekar and Kishor Assnodkar also spoke on the occasion.

Dr Vikas Naik was assisted by Dr Kanhya Sirsat, Dr Nikita Pillernka, nurses Anita Shetye, Gita Patil and IFM Sneha Salgaonkar during the camp at Socorro.
