Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Saturday declared the results for the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSSCE) held in March 2018.
GBSHSE Ramkrishna Samant has declared that the overall passing percentage of all four streams; arts, science, commerce and vocational, stands at 85.84 per cent this year, slight dip from the 88.78 per cent recorded in the previous year. This year, 18,499 students had registered for the HSSCE. Of these, 17,739 students appeared for the Std XII board examination and 15,227 cleared it successfully.
Around 15 schools have registered a passing percentage of above 95 per cent.
The number of candidates registered under exempted category, who appeared for the HSSC Examination was 760, of which 300 candidates passed. The total passing percentage for this category is 39.47 per cent.
Girl students outshone the boys yet again this year. While 87.41 per cent girls cleared the HSSCE, 80.13 per cent boys made a successful attempt. 9,667 students appeared and 8,450 passed. Total passing percentage, including the exempted candidates, of girls is 88.31 per cent and boys are at 82.39 per cent.
Students from commerce stream performed exceptionally well this year with an overall passing percentage of 90.58. Of the 5,402 students who appeared for the Std XII examination in commerce stream, 4,893 students passed. Of those who passed, 2,512 (91.71) were girls and 2,443 (85.54 per cent) were boys.
Of the 4,709 students who appeared for arts stream board exam, 3,474 students passed. Arts stream recorded a passing percentage of 85.17. The passing students include 2,665 (85.80 per cent) girls and 888 (73.09 per cent) boys.
Science stream registered a passing percentage of 82.31 with 4,496 of the 5,462 students who appeared, passed the board exam. Of these, 2,534 (85.23 per cent) were girls and 2,125 (77.13 per cent) were boys.
Of the total 2,796 students who appeared for the vocational stream, 2,309 i.e. 82.58 per cent passed. The passing lot comprises 743 (87.51 per cent) girls and 777 (80.13 per cent) boys.
In addition to this, 3,743 students availed sports merit and around 1.4 per cent candidates passed with the help of sports merit.
GBSHSE has further announced the dates for submission for applications for revaluation of marks is on or before May 7, for supply of photocopy of answer books is on or before May 12 and for verification of marks in absentia is on or before May 25.
GBSHSE chairman Samant also announced that the supplementary examination for Std XII will be conducted on June 7 (theory) and June 15 (practical).
The Board has declared that this year, candidates seeking improvement of marks intro will receive two opportunities. “Earlier, only one chance was given as per Board rules. This year, we will give two chances, firstly, at the supplementary exam in June and later, again in March Board exams next year,” Samant said.
The examination for Std XII was held between March 5 to March 24, 2018.
The passing certificates cum statement of marks of HSSCE Examination will be distributed at respective schools on April 30, 2018, from 9.30 am onwards. It was informed that private candidates can collect their certificate from Goa Board’s office located at Alto Betim Bardez Goa, upon producing the hall ticket.
