Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes has assured that all areas at the world-famous Palolem beach would get proper road access and street lights.
On being told there were still areas without road access and illumination, Fernandes asked the PWD and electricity officials to accompany him on a tour of the area on Monday evening.
Fernandes walked across several areas and directed the PWD (roads) and electricity officials to plan roads and illumination.
“I have directed PWD and electricity officials to plan these roads and illumination. I have already spoken to some landlords and will also speak to some more to cooperate in the construction of roads.”
“It's very difficult to get an ambulance or even a fire brigade in case of any emergencies in some parts of Palolem. I will ensure to mobilise funds to complete these projects,” said Fernandes.
Earlier, Palolem-II Councillor Diwakar Pagui, who is also BJP Block General Secretary, said people in these areas had been facing severe problems due to non-availability of proper road access to their residences.
Former CMC chairperson and Simon Rebello also highlighted the difficulties of people and sought the intervention of Fernandes.
One landlord assured Fernandes to make available his piece of land to erect a transformer, while two other landlords assured to gift land once a road is planned in the area.
