Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik has asked panchayats to send in proposals for development projects.
"Due to the pandemic, there was insufficient revenue this year. But next year, funds will start coming in and so, I request panchayats to submit their proposals and I will get them approved,” assured Naik.
The union minister was addressing a gathering after launching the work to install electricity poles and wires in Korgao-Pernem.
For several years, Korgao village has been suffering from poor electricity connections and Naik took the initiative to utilise Rs 31 lakh from the MPLAD fund for these works.
"Due to the lockdown, we were unable to undertake some works but we will soon pick up the pace of development," said Naik.
Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar said he will try his best to solve the water scarcity issue in Pernem.
"Pernem faces scarcity of water and electricity supply. Despite sufficient water at the Chandel water project, Pernem still faces water shortage. We will convene a meeting with officials to find a resolution to this problem," said Ajgaonkar.
Thanking Naik for his support to the project, Korgao Sarpanch Swati Gawandi said some parts of Korgao did not have electricity poles for several years.
"Our panchayat submitted a proposal to him and he readily agreed to the project. A total of 135 poles with LED lamps will be installed at the cost of Rs 31 lakh,” said Gawandi.
Others present at the function included Pernem BJP block president Tulshidas Gawas, Korgao deputy sarpanch Abdul Naik and panchas.
