Panaji MLA opposes privatisation of old Ribandar jetty

PANAJI
There has been friction between BJP legislators as there is news that the jetty opposite to old GMC at Ribandar is being leased out to a private contractor for commercial purposes.

While opposing the leasing out of the jetty, Panaji BJP MLA Atanasio Monserrate has written to the Minister of Ports to suspend the permissions if issued against the interest of the people of Ribandar and Panaji as a whole. He claimed that it has come to his notice that the jetty has been leased out to a private contractor for commercial purposes.

Minister for Ports Michael Lobo however denied any such permission given by the CoP.

“Jetty belongs to River Navigation Department and I have not given any permission,” Lobo added.  The minister said he has directed to revoke NOC, if any, given to private contractors to use the jetty opposite Old GMC at Ribandar.

The people of Ribandar have also opposed the move.
