Panchwadi Sarpanch joins Goa Forward

The Sarpanch of Panchwadi village in Shiroda, Vishant Gaonkar along with two Panchayat members joined Goa Forward party on Friday. In a function that took place at Goa Forward headquarters, Vijai Sardesai welcomed Gaonkar into the party by presenting him with a coconut and the primary membership form of the party. A number of villagers also joined the party on the occasion. Goa Forward will be launching a membership drive from 1 November to 16 January

After declaring the Goa Konkani Akademi Literacy awards and the Bhasha Seva Puraskar for the year 2015 and 2016 as null and void, the government on Friday decided to constitute a committee to centralise and lay down guidelines regarding awards given by Konkani Academy, Marathi Academy, Kala Academy, and the Directorate of Art and Culture.
