OLD GOA
Parents and students of the Government Primary School from Ganvant-Cumbarjua gathered outside the Directorate of Education at Porvorim to protest against the transfer of the headmistress.
They have further demanded that the transfer of the headmistress, Mangala Gaude, be withdrawn and she be given back charge of the primary school.
The parents informed reporters that the primary school was facing closure but after the arrival of Gaude eight years back, the school got new lease of life and the number of students admitted in the school doubled.
“Gaude teaches in such a way that the students find it very easy to understand and grasp,” a parent informed while condemning the arbitrary transfer of Gaude and that too during mid-term.
“We demand that the transfer be withdrawn and Gaude given back the charge of headmistress of the school,” urged another parent, while stating that they have already written to the authorities concerned highlighting their demand.
The parents have further alleged political interference as the reason behind the transfer.
