Close on the heels of pointing fingers to former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar on the GoaMiles imbroglio, Ports Minister Michael Lobo on Tuesday alleged that the ex-CM made a mistake by shutting down mining in the State.
“Former CM Manohar Parrikar is my guru and I have learnt a lot from him. But what decision (in shutting down mining) he took at that time was a mistake and we should accept it,” Lobo said.
The Ports Minister was speaking to the media at the sidelines of a function after hoisting the national tricolour in Parra panchayat.
Continuing, Lobo said no ongoing business should be shut down, as to restart any business takes a lot of time.
“Although I was not from the mining belt, I had told the then CM not to close the mining business. The present CM Pramod Sawant and Nilesh Cabral had also requested Parrikar not to shut down mining then. We had asked his to curb illegalities in the mining but don’t close it down,” he said.
He further said no politicians or political heads should shut ongoing businesses, until or unless the Supreme Court stops it.
On Monday, Lobo alleged the former CM had not taken any of his colleagues into confidence while bringing GoaMiles, the app-based taxi service in the State.
