PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said Manohar Parrikar would continue to be the chief minister and head the government till he is there.
Dhavalikar was speaking to reporters at Dabolim airport on Thursday evening on his arrival from Delhi after a meeting with central BJP leaders.
“I have conveyed my views as an alliance partner to the BJP central leaders. We have placed three requests. One is that Manohar Parrikar will continue to be the CM of Goa and he will rule till he is there. Secondly, Parrikar will distribute the portfolios himself and third, the BJP must give credit to alliance partners,” said Dhavalikar.
Dhavalikar said giving due credit and respect to alliance partners would benefit the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“If they respect alliance partners, they will definitely get a good margin and votes in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. They must give alliance partners their due recognition. This is not an arm-twisting tactic but a good message to the NDA,” said Dhavalikar.
Asked if the MGP, as an alliance partner, would abide by the decision of the central BJP on a new chief ministerial candidate as some names were being discussed, Dhavalikar replied: “I am not aware of any discussions about a chief ministerial candidate. Nothing of this sort has been discussed with me and I am not aware if such discussion has been held with any one else,” said Dhavalikar.
