Parsem local dies from injuries in road mishap

A 45-year-old man from Chavdevada-Parsem, who had been seriously injured in a road mishap on Sunday, died while undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital at Bambolim on Tuesday morning.

According to sources, Ankush Nagvekar had been residing in Pernem and his son had won the first prize at the Pernem taluka chess tournament at Morjim on Sunday.

Nagvekar had gone to Parsem along with his son to show the trophy to his mother and while returning to Pernem, their two-wheeler struck stray cattle near the Tuem hospital. Both fell on the road and Nagvekar was struck by a car which was trailing their two-wheeler.

Nagvekar was moved to the GMC hospital and died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment. The final rites took place at a local crematorium.
