Rs 1.5 crore project to replace old sewer line launched at Baina

VASCO

Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Monday launched a Rs 1.5 crore project to replace an old sewer pipeline near Canara Bank at Baina. The work aims to end the long-standing sewage problems in the area.

The project will replace a nearly 40-year-old pipeline that often gets blocked and overflows. The new line will be bigger, with its diameter increased from 150 mm to 300 mm, which will help sewage flow better and reduce complaints.

Amonkar said sewerage work is already going on at Sada jetty, Bogda and other parts of the constituency and is close to completion. He added that the main pipeline from Sada to the Baina sewage treatment plant will also be replaced soon to further strengthen the system.

“This is an important project. We plan to upgrade the entire sewage network in Mormugao in phases, including all internal lines and the main pipelines from Sada to Baina. Our aim is to solve sewage problems permanently,” he said.

The MLA asked residents to connect their homes to the new sewer line once the work is finished. He assured support to families who cannot afford the connection cost.

Ward councillor Shraddha Amonkar, local residents and officials were present at the launch and expressed hope that Baina’s long-pending sewage issues will finally be solved.
