Even as four youths have already been arrested and are behind bars in connection with the brutal attack on two pay-parking attendants at Rizim Plaza, Morod, Mapusa, police are yet to trace the fifth accused.

The incident took place around noon on Ganesh Chaturthi day, when attendants Sandeep Kumar and Prakash Talwar were assaulted after asking one of the accused to park his two-wheeler properly.

During the scuffle, Talwar was stabbed with a knife and sustained grievous injuries. He underwent surgery at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, and is currently recuperating.

The assailant who wielded the knife is among those already in custody.

The fifth accused, however, who was also involved in thrashing the attendants, remains at large.

Sources revealed that the group hails from the coastal belt and is linked to the rent-a-car and rent-a-bike business.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that attempts are being made to broker a compromise between the parties.

Police officials, however, declined to comment on the matter despite repeated attempts to contact them.
