The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has revoked the directions issued to a café in the commercial capital to stop operation for operating without having the consent to operation from the Board and for discharging domestic waste water into storm water drain.
GSPCB Member Secretary Dr Shamila Monteiro has said the Board has granted the café shop the consent to operate after the unit had applied for the consent on May 30.
In the order, Dr Monteiro stated that the directions dated September 25, 2023 issued to the unit has been revoked as per powers under Section 33(A) read with Section 25/26 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and under Section 31(A) read with Section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
The GSPCB had late last year issued notices on around 19 establishments, including hotels and eateries to stop discharge of the waste water in the storm water drains and to also obtain from the Board the consent to operate.
In May last, the Board finally cracked a whip against three establishments, including the café, a bar and restaurant for operating without the mandatory consent to operate and for discharging the waste water in the storm water drains.
