Congratulating Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza for his victory in the by-election, several councillors expected the young legislator to shoulder the hopes of the people of Mapusa.
“People of Mapusa have high expectations from you. We cannot make everyone happy and at times, we all will have to take tough decisions only in the interest of Mapusa. I congratulate Joshua and expect him to live up to people’s expectations,” said councillor Rajsingh Rane and a staunch BJP karyakarta.
While moving a resolution to congratulate the new Mapusa MLA, councillor Franky Carvalho said D’Souza should not resign as councillor and should continue to lead Mapusa as the MLA and member of the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC).
Toasting his younger colleague’s triumph, former chairperson and senior councillor Sudhir Kandolkar said he hoped the Mapusa MLA will take up development works in Mapusa without any differentiation.
“I congratulate Joshua for his victory and look forward to the development of Mapusa without any differentiation,” said Kandolkar, who lost to the younger colleague in the bypoll. MMC Chairperson Ryan Braganza, Tushar Tople, Sanjay Mishal and Rohan Kavlekar also spoke on the congratulatory motion.
