Enthused by the large turnout in the assembly elections, former minister & Congress candidate for Calangute Michael Lobo said people had come out to express their anger against an arrogant government and vote for change.
Lobo, on Monday, also said that BJP will be wiped off from Bardez as Congress was set to emerge victorious in six constituencies while one constituency would be bagged by another party.
“People have come out in large numbers to bring in change. This vote is against the ruling dispensation. The vote is against the government that sold jobs and allowed people to die during Covid due to lack of oxygen,” Lobo said.
The former minister, who was with the BJP for a decade and joined the Congress just days before the assembly election, was speaking to journalists after casting his vote in the first half of the day.
Lobo said BJP will be routed in Bardez while Congress would pocket six out of the seven seats in the taluka.
“One seat will go to another party but not to BJP,” he said.
He said people did not want their votes to get divided and therefore came out and voted for Congress.
According to former minister & BJP candidate of Siolim Dayanand Mandrekar, BJP will get an absolute majority in the State.
“The presence of other parties and Independents will decide who will be the ultimate winner in Goa,” Mandrekar said.
In Siolim, he said there was a high possibility that a split in the vote will benefit his prospects.
“This election will be decided by the majority community in Siolim. Our voters of the Bhandari and Kharvi community are around 18,000 plus voters. If a candidate gets half of that then the candidate wins,” he rationalized.
