Pernem blue cab operators demand action on counter and permits

Pernem blue cab operators demand action on counter and permits

Pernem: The Pernem taxi operators have slammed the delay in 'allotment' of the notified blue cab counter at Manohar International Airport, Mopa and delay in issuing taxi permits to about 250 youths, as they met Deputy Collector seeking urgent action.

The aggrieved operators demanded government recognition of the counter. "The blue cab counter should have been handed over to us after it was notified as a stand. Besides, around 250 youth are jobless since they have still not received permits. The government or GMR should prioritize these," said one of the operators, while demanding subsequent ouster of app-based taxis.

They sought justice for their livelihoods and urged authorities to listen to their concerns.

"We only want justice to sustain our livelihood, but authorities have been making us run from pillar to post," lamented another operator.

The operators also await a discussion with the local MLA to chart a way forward while further accusing harassment by GMR as well as police surveillance.

The Deputy Collector assured to address their grievances.
