Pernem Covid care centre lacks facilities: MGP

MGP leader Praveen Arlekar and Mopa Deputy Sarpanch Subodh Mahale have claimed that the Covid care centre opened at the Sawalwaddo indoor stadium in Pernem lacked most facilities for Covid patients.

They were speaking to reporters after inspecting the facilities made available at the Covid care centre in the indoor stadium

“This so-called Covid care centre has nothing but just 50 beds. There are neither doctors nor oxygen facilities at the centre. Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar opened the Covid care centre for a publicity stunt and he needs to stop playing with the lives of Pernekars," said Arlekar.

Meanwhile, Pernem taluka recorded 60 new Covid cases on Saturday. The new cases were detected at Morjim (7), Mandrem (8), Arambol (5), Pernem (8), Virnoda (6), Tuem (2), Keri (3), Paliem (7), Parcem (6), Agarwaddo (3) and Korgao (5).


TV shoot halted


Amid growing Covid cases in Pernem taluka, the shooting of a Marathi TV serial during the past few days angered locals who are preparing for the 15-day curfew and police finally staged their own action and stopped the TV shoot.

According to reports, shooting of a Marathi TV serial had been going on along various parts of Mandrem and Morjim coast in the past three days.

According to sources, as many as 50 members of the film crew are alleged to have tested positive for Covid. Taking cognisance of the situation, Pernem police got into the act and stopped the shooting which was underway on Saturday evening.
