Pernem locals protest gambling
PERNEM: Residents of Agarwaddo-Pernem have expressed concern over the rising gambling activities in the village.
The villagers at a meeting convened at Agarwaddo on Sunday demanded to put an end to the gambling activities and threatened to protest at the police station if no action is taken in the matter.
The residents alleged that gambling activities take place openly in the village. They said earlier the gambling activities used to take place in closed rooms, but now these are carried out in the open.
“We are threatened if we raise our voice against gambling activities,” said a local.
The locals said gambling even takes place during the local cricket matches.
