Pernem sees 4 panchas elected unopposed

Four panchas have been elected unopposed in Pernem taluka, after scrutiny of nomination forms were taken up on Tuesday.

Former sarpanch Prarthana Mote was elected unopposed from Ward 3 in Torse Panchayat, while Diksha Halarnkar was elected unopposed from Ward 7 (reserved for women) in Ibrampur. She is contesting elections for the first time.

Bernand Fernandes was elected unopposed in Ward 4 at Arambol, while Hemant Chopdekar was unopposed in Ward 4 at Agarwada-Chopdem.

201 nominations remain valid in Canacona

CANACONAA total of 201 nominations were found in order for the seven panchayats going to polls in Canacona, on the day of scrutiny on Tuesday.Two wards of Shristhal VP (3 and 7) both unreserved have a maximum of 6 nominations, while 8 different wards have more than 5 nominations. The remaining wards all have between 2-4 nominations.Withdrawal of nominations will be permitted till 2 pm on Wednesday.Interestingly, Ward 4 (general) in Poinguinim has received only one nomination…
