CANACONA
A Margao bound pick-up truck transporting bananas skidded off the NH-66 road and turned turtle at Loliem on Sunday afternoon. The driver and cleaner escaped unhurt, however, the bananas were partly damaged and destroyed in the mishap.
According to the driver Sidhi, he was transporting the banana load in his pick-up truck from Davangere, Karnataka and was proceeding to Margao, when on reaching Loliem two cattle came in way.
The driver further said that in order to save the cattle, when he applied brakes, the vehicle swirled on the road amidst light drizzle of rains and turned turtle, before resting on its side, aside the road.
Both the driver and cleaner escaped unhurt, but some of the banana stock got damaged and destroyed.
