According to DySP Sucheeta Dessai, Joshua Mudiyil along with three other friends had gone for a picnic at Hollant beach on Tuesday. At about 5 pm, they went up the hill using the steps and were only 100 mtrs away from the railway station. They walked very close to the railway tracks while a goods train was proceeding from Vasco towards Margao. “The boys wanted to take the Collem to Vasco local train to go back home and as Mudiyil was closer to the track, a portion of a wagon hit the boy s head and he fell down on the railway slipper and died on the spot due to grievous head injuries,” said Desai.
