Plaint against Guirim panch
MAPUSA: Mapusa Police booked a Guirim panch member for alleged negligence and endangering life while using fire crackers late Wednesday night.
A resident of Guirim, Priya Desai, in her complaint said that Guirim panchayat member, Sunny Nanodkar instigated some children to light fire crackers very close to her while she was standing by the side of the road at around 10 pm on Wednesday.
Police booked an offence against the panch member for negligence, endangering life and criminal intimidation under Sections 285, 336 and 506.
The police also summoned the panchayat member to the police station for questioning.
Meanwhile, sources disclosed that the complaint was politically motivated as a kin of the complainant and the accused do not see eye to eye.
The accused and the complainant's kin had fought against each other in the panchayat elections, the sources further said. Both are members of the ruling BJP.
Further investigation is going on.
