Worker who fell from pole shares his plight

A contract worker Deepak Gawde (32) from Bicholim and working at the Anjuna electricity department said he had a fall from a 9-meter electricity pole after coming in contact with a live wire and neither the contractor nor the department paid his medical expenses.

“When I was on the pole, the supervisor switched off the wrong transformer by mistake. As a result, the transformer tripped and I got an electric shock. I fell down from the pole,” added Gawde.

Gawde said he hasn’t been feeling well and his lower back aches when he stands for a long time. “I’ve been advised rest, but I also have to support my parents. I don’t know how I will take care of them,” he added.
