The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party's (MGP) Mandrem MLA, Jit Arolkar on Monday came to be the first mainstream politician to get dragged into the fraudulent land deal imbroglio with a complaint naming him filed before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) relating to 1.48 lakh square metres property in Dhargalim.
Arolkar has been accused of fraudulently developing the property into plots and selling them by making a deal with only one of the two families who jointly owned the land.
The complaint has been filed by Aires Rodrigues, representing a legal heir of the Khalap family which has alleged that Arolkar has ignored its ownership rights over the land he developed and sold after sub-dividing it into plots.
Rodrigues in his complaint said his client, Rawloo Khalap, a senior citizen residing in California, USA, is the co-owner of the impugned property and has authorised him to take legal action.
According to the complaint, the property bearing survey no 481/0 known as “Kapni Voril Ghera” at Dhargal was co-owned by Late Vaikunth Shet Khalap and Late Sadashiv Sakharam Natekar. Vaikunth Khalap died in 1979 and his wife Shaila passed away in 2007, following which Rawloo Khalap became a co-owner.
Rodrigues said Arolkar, based on a Power of Attorney dated 24/12/2012, deceitfully executed between him and legal heirs of the Late Sadashiv Sakharam Natekar, created approximately 200 plots in the property over five years between 2013 and 2018 and executed sale deeds with third parties.
The property was undivided with no partition of land or share carried out by any authority and the Form I & XIV reflects several illegal mutation entries, the complaint adds.
Rodrigues has asked the SIT to register the complaint as an FIR and as part of its ongoing investigation into the large-scale fraudulent transfer of properties across the State take necessary action in the matter.
