Five fishermen were rescued after their fishing boat got stranded along the rocks off the Palolem coast.
Two Drishti lifesavers braved the rough seas and strong winds to proceed to the site in jet-skis. They helped pull the fishing boat and brought all five fishermen safely back ashore.
According to sources, five local fishermen had ventured into the sea in a motorboat and while releasing their fishing nets, realised that the motor had stopped working.
The sea suddenly turned rough with strong winds and the boat began to drift away. All five fishermen tried to row the boat to safety. The boat, however, began to drift towards the rocky shore along the Ourem-side of Palolem coast.
Sending danger, one fisherman alerted his contacts onshore. The local at Palolem lost no time and notified the Drishti Life Saving Tower at Palolem and explained the situation.
Two Drishti lifesavers, Ankush and Santosh, rushed into the sea with jet-skis and headed towards the Ourem rocks.
With the help of ropes available on the stranded boat, the lifesavers freed the boat away from the rocks and towed it back ashore with all five fishermen on board.
Meanwhile, fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea on account of severe weather.
