Latching on to the co-working concept, Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday informed that the State government was planning to set up co-working spaces across Goa’s beach belt.
Khaunte also said that plans were afoot to build up an inventory of government places where such co-working spaces can come up.
“We will be setting up co-working spaces across the beach right from North to South Goa. It will be very unique and attract the best talent of the world in the State,” Khaunte said.
He said this type of footprints in the IT sector will place Goa in the niche category and ensure that right players come to the State.
“This talent pool which comes here will have something to give back to the State,” he said.
He further said that there were plans to build up such co-working spaces in government areas and work was on to create an inventory of such available places.
“There is a shortage of co-working spaces in government-owned areas. The government is felicitating…we are taking inventory of available places and in the days to come we will shortlist the places,” he said.
He said by October or November a lot of things will get moving on the ground.
The concept of co-working spaces, which is popular in many countries, is catching on in India.
A co-working space refers to an office area where several organisations work in a shared space contrary to the conventional office area used by a single organisation.
All the logistical amenities are provided by the space provider.
