Plans to set up urban hospital in Cuncolim

MARGAO
Leader of Opposition and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao on Tuesday has underscored the need to work towards protection of communal harmony, which will help to maintain peace as he unveiled plans to set up an urban hospital in Cuncolim.

Speaking during the launch of developmental works in Cuncolim, Yuri said people of Cuncolim have set an example of religious unity. “We celebrate the traditional functions of all faiths by coming together and visiting each other’s houses. This protects our communal harmony,” Yuri said, as he laid foundation stone for the compound wall of Sunni Jamiya Masjid Kabrastan at Demani Cuncolim and also inaugurated ‘Ganapati Visarjan’ shed and steps at Uskiniband-Panzorconi.

Saying that Cuncolim is a model of religious harmony and underlined the need to always protect this status, Yuri emphasised the paramount importance of unity for the progress.

Promising to construct a community hall for SJM under MLA-LAD scheme, the Cuncolim MLA said, “We can construct a community hall where 200 to 300 people can be accommodated. This can generate income for SJM.”

Saying that work of asphalting of roads in Demani and other areas will take place soon, he said, “whilst we go ahead with projects with your consent, I wish to build ‘Urban Hospital’ and will try to lay the foundation stone in November. We will provide all medical facilities in the new medical project,” he said, adding it was the dream of his father Joaquim Alemao.
