A delegation of BJP leaders from Margao called on PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar with a plea to restore all the roads in Comba area of the city dug up to lay the sewerage line before the commencement of the Zambaulim Shigmo on
March 11.
The delegation comprising BJP State executive member Sharmad Raiturkar, General Secretary of Margao Mandal Navin Pai Raikar, Vice President Sunil Naik met the PWD Minister and impressed upon him on the need to complete the works before March 10, when the Zambaulim Shigmo commences from Comba.
“Zambaulim Shigmo is a special and the age-old festival is celebrated by all the Madgaonkars irrespective of caste and religion. This year Zambaulim Shigmo will commence from Comba with the auspicious ‘Naaral Pujan’ on March 11. The same will be taken to Shree Damodar Temple at Zambaulim in a procession accompanied by thousands of Madgaonkars through the Margao city especially through the Comba area”, Sharmad said.
He recalled that after the request made by the residents of Comba headed by him and Chandan Naik to the then visionary Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, regarding the pathetic condition of sewerage system in Comba, he had taken speedy action and initiated the laying of new sewerage pipeline and repairing of manholes after making a personal visit to Comba area.
“Parrikar had made it a point to follow up the processing of file even through his sickness and as a result of his efforts the work of laying the new pipeline had commenced just before the monsoon in 2019. After Pauskar took the charge of the PWD Ministry, the work gained momentum and the work of first two phases has almost been completed with little pending work of full grouting at a couple of places”, he added.
The karyakartas of BJP Margao along with the residents of Comba have thanked PWD Minister for issuing directions to the officials to complete the remaining repairing of the dug portion of the roads and immediately start the hot-mixing of the roads in order to ensure that the festivities of Shigmo are not affected and also to give relief to the commuters.
The delegation included other BJP karyakartas and local residents that included Jyotendra Nayak, Sitar Phadte, Gaurav Narvekar and Digambar Bondre.
