Plea to reform women commission
PANAJI: Chairperson of NGO ‘Savera’ Tara Kerkar on Monday submitted a written complaint demanding the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar reconstitute the members of Goa State Women's Commission alleging that the commission is not functioning up to the mark.
“This commission is not able to solve any cases and disappoints the women who approach it. We have several cases that come to us as the women's commission is not helping them,” said Kerkar.
Tara sought to question the re-appointment of the committee and said, “When this committee is not capable of solving issues, then why is the same committee being appointed again?”
Kerkar further alleged that members of the GSWC do not visit the protective care homes or Apna Ghar to inspect how women are treated inside there.
