BICHOLIM: The Poira High School at Mayem has achieved the honour of being ranked among the first 10 schools of a total of 1,500 schools in the inter-school national project at Bengaluru.
The programme was organised by Wipro Group of Companies. Poira HS had submitted two projects, one described the importance of crab to protect Khazan land and environment, while the other combine project submitted was on energy of trees in the circle of living beings. This project was selected from Goa and Karwar to participate in the national project competition, where about 1,500 high schools from the country participated.
Poira school authorities were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a trophy by Wipro Earthian Company Chairman Ajim Premji. The company also assured to provide financial assistance to the school for propagating projects on environment.
Science teacher of the school, Santosh Gaonkar has expressed gratitude towards Wipro Earthian Company and technology institution.
The winning team comprised Omkar Kauthankar, Prachi Haldankar, Nikita Pissurlekar and Rohit Pednekar.
