The Maina-Curtorim police have arrested a truck driver from Khanapur-Karnataka in connection with the Loutolim hit-and-run and murder case, but many a question still remains unanswered.
While the Maina-Curtorim police arrested truck driver Vasudev Madar (59) in connection with the case, questions are raised whether the truck driver was involved in the hit-and-run case or in the alleged murder of deceased Kanahiya Kumar Mondal.
Questions are asked whether Madar’s truck had knocked down the deceased at Loutolim on the fateful night of June 25. Police sources said Madar is believed to have maintained that his truck might have hit Kanahiya on the road, throwing up another question whether the deceased was run over by the same truck or another vehicle.
The moot question remains unanswered “ if the arrested truck driver has claimed that his truck might have hit the deceased, how come the deceased suffered cut marks and stab wounds on the abdomen which were homicidal.
For, the post mortem examination has showed that these cut marks and stab injuries on the abdomen of the deceased were all ante-mortem shedding light that the vehicle had run over the body after his death.
The Maina-Curtorim police had initially registered a hit-and-run case, but later registered murder case after finding suspicion in the post mortem examination report of the victim.
During the course of investigation, police said electronic devices surveillance was examined and after collecting information through witnesses, a vehicle bearing registration number KA-22-C-2709 was identified. A police team was later deputed to Khanapur, Karnataka wherein, truck driver of the vehicle namely Vasudev, s/o Hanumant Madar was apprehended and placed under arrest. The truck bearing Reg. No. KA-22-C-2709 has been brought at Maina-Curtorim PS.
